IT GRANT
The U.S. Department of Labor awarded the OWATC a grant in the amount of $500,000 for a three-year enhancement of its Information Technology programs under the Technology Based Learning Initiative (TBL). The grant will give an additional 300 students IT job training leading to industry recognized credentials and significantly improved career opportunities, increasing the college’s current IT program by over 200 percent.
The OWATC currently offers 15 IT certifications most in demand by the industry. The grant will expand credential offerings, enhance online course availability, and add new classroom equipment. The grant will also provide students with a 50 percent subsidy for tuition, books and fees.
